Calphalon shows the way...

Very rarely will I say anything about a brand online, for better or for worse, because that is not my deal.  (And to be clear, this is not a paid ad, because that is not my thing, either.)  I am making an exception today, because I think Calphalon deserves some extra credit and recognition for treating their customer well.  If anyone is thinking about buying new pots and pans for themselves or someone else, especially in this coming "wedding" season, you should seriously consider buying Calphalon.

I love mine - they are awesome cookware.  I have a very nice set, and I use a piece or two pretty much every day.  I am not rough with it, I value it too much!  But it does get lovingly used, and I can attest to their quality.

A couple of weeks ago, I opened the cupboard to pull out a pan and the glass cover was broken, for no apparent reason.  I threw the cover away, because it was shattered like a windshield into a gazillion pieces, and I couldn't prove it wasn't my fault, so didn't see any point in keeping the shards.  But I was really bummed, because I use that pan and cover a lot.

So I emailed them a week ago, explaining what happened, asking if it was possible to purchase a replacement cover, and what that would cost.  They sent an email back asking for photos of the original pan, and my mailing address, and said they would get back to me.  I did, and a couple of days later, they emailed me that my new cover was on its way.  I never gave them payment info, so I realized they were replacing it for free, and I was really pleased.  Great customer service!  Wow.  They made a customer for life.

Then today, when I got home from work, not only did I have my new cover, but they sent me a whole new pan, as well.  I have no idea if there is a warranty, but they didn't even ask when I received it, or anything like that.  Just replaced it, no more questions asked.

I realize this is not a huge thing, in the general scheme of the world.  But Calphalon really made my day.  Not only do they make great cookware that I love to use, they have stellar customer service, too.  In a world where it often seems like no one cares about customer service any more, it is lovely to be treated this way.

So I just thought I would share an uplifting moment in my day.  There are a lot of nice people out there, and some quality companies, as well.  We just don't usually hear about them, because it seems like the negative stuff always get the attention.

It has been a long month, and it made me feel better to be treated well by some unknown customer service person at a company that didn't have to do this.  So thanks to everyone at Calphalon who played a part!  You made someone smile today.
